AROUND THE BOOK

More than a quarter of a century has passed since the death of Stanley Kubrick (1928–1999), his films continue to inspire fascination, debate, and rediscovery. Each new generation of viewers approaches his work with the same sense of awe and curiosity felt by those who witnessed 2001: A Space Odyssey (1968) upon its release. Kubrick’s cinema has become a touchstone not only for filmmakers and critics, but also for anyone who understands the power of film to challenge, unsettle, and endure. Throughout his career, Kubrick forged a body of work that defies easy  classification: war films that question the nature of violence (Paths of Glory, Full Metal Jacket), satires that expose the absurdity of power (Dr. Strangelove), epics that reinvent the possibilities of genre (2001: A Space Odyssey, Barry Lyndon), and dramas that probe the darkest corners of human desire (A Clockwork Orange, Eyes Wide Shut). His relentless pursuit of perfection and uncompromising vision made him one of the most singular figures in modern cinema. Stanley Kubrick: A Creative Odyssey (2025) is an expanded and revised edition of the landmark 1999 publication, now enriched with new material. Among its highlights is an essay devoted to A.I. Artificial Intelligence, the ambitious project Kubrick developed for years before entrusting it to Steven Spielberg. This deluxe edition, featuring a foreword by the acclaimed Australian filmmaker Peter Weir, offers both a rigorous study and a tribute: an invitation to journey once more into the vast, challenging, and endlessly creative universe of Stanley Kubrick.
